The latter is a phenomenon that allows plants to transform the nutrients they receive, such as water and CO2, into metabolic energy, necessary for their growth and maintenance of life, thanks to natural sunlight.
And the same goes for our skin to keep it healthy. Sunlight will stimulate the production of metabolic energy, ATP, essential for the proper functioning of our body and our skin. This is called photobiomodulation. Mitochondria, small cellular energy factories located inside our cells, will capture food and oxygen and use them to produce cellular energy. Thanks to small solar panels located outside these mitochondria, called photoreceptors, they will capture photons of light, a subject discussed in our first episode of the web series, which will accelerate the production of metabolic energy.
